The Bootlegger Run

Austin to Galveston Island

Austin, TX, USA

This event has already passed by. Sorry.

Event Description

"We will definitely be doing this fall's rallies. My past navigator is going to drive! I don't think I took the time to tell you thanks for all your hard work in organizing and putting together such an amazing event, so 'thanks for all your hard work and making the Rallye such a fun and memorable event!' The last Rallye surpassed any expectations I had and was quite simply one of the most fun days I can ever remember having driving!

Really looking forward to participating in more events in the future :-)"

Ed, Rallye Competitor, May 2014

This totally dry run is a throwback to the days of Prohibition, and of avoiding anyone that might not like booze in the trunk of our cars. Daisy Duke, Bo & Luke would love this competition - primarily because they'd finally have a legitimate charitable reason to outrun Boss Hog and his trusty lemming, Rosco P. Coltrane.

Better yet, Austinites need a reason to get out to the coast - and this one-way rallye to the coast gives our competitors a great Sunday to relax oceanside and meander back to town.

"The parties were bigger…the pace was faster…and the morals were looser."

November 15, 2014

Launch Venue Announcement: Wednesday Previous to Rallye (shhhhhhhhhhh)

Charity Supported: TBD

Important Times:

10:00am Ceremony of the Speakeasy and Registration (you must sneak into the venue)

10:30am Ceremony of the Bootleggers: Mandatory Team Meeting (we quickly load the bootlegging cars with product that you  need to get from Point A to Point B)

11:00pm Shotgun Start

2:00pm Midway Checkpoint & Good Guys Reset

4:30pm Bootleggers Run Ending Checkpoint & Happy Hour

6:00pm Prohibition Ceremony of the Racketeers (we see the losers grovel at the hands of the winners)

Requirements: Rookie, Novice to Pro, Car, Driver + Navigator Team, Current License, Proof of Insurance, Signed Waiver, All participants must be age 21+

Recommendations: Hunters Map (county by county including backroads), Pocket Map

Special Notes: At the morning's Ceremony of the Bootleggers, sealed cases of prohibition booze will be placed in the trunk or back seat of each runner. (Yes, this is all really cool and totally legal beer, wine & spirits from Texas companies).

Half of our bootlegging runners will win. Half will not. At the evening's Ceremony of the Racketeer's, the bottom placing half must relinquish their precious loot and place it in the winning runners cars. How do you win in this classic game of Cops & Robbers?

Over 100 Rallye Marshalls will be identifying our runners along roads that could make up your chosen route. You won't know and you won't have a clue. But we're limited in number. Will we be on the regularly traversed interstates? The rarely driven side roads? You have to make some choices. But what you do know is those Rallye Marshalls are looking for our runners. And you must try to avoid them. Otherwise you'll have to give up your precious loot.

Each time a bootlegger is spotted they receive a point. Teams with the least amount of points win.
